There comes a time in the life of a people when their physical survival, dignity, fundamental human rights, and indeed the very essence of their being endowed on them by their creator and guaranteed under natural and international laws supersede all temporary comfort, and demand unreserved and unmitigated action in defence of these God-given rights. For the peoples of Biafra, that time is now.

Whereas we, the peoples and Nation of Biafra and their land and property find ourselves under physical, economic, political, sociological, and psychological subjugation by the State of Nigeria since 1967; a “state of occupation” of Biafra by Nigeria has existed and continues to exist unabated. Unwilling to continue to live under such stifling servitude while suffering such indignities as are inappropriate for human beings, the people of the Federation of Biafra are determined to exercise their natural and legal rights to Freedom and Liberty.

In reaffirming Liberty and Freedom for Biafra, the Peoples and Nation of Biafra make neither war, nor peace with the State or peoples of Nigeria. Rather we exercise a Natural right, a political right and a right supported by the United Nations Organization Charter and international laws – the right of Self-Determination.

The peoples of Biafra are taking this action in certain realization that only the effective exercise of Self- Determination will end this state of occupation, subjugation, persecution by Nigeria; and prevent this looming  danger of a second genocide against Biafrans by terrorist Jihadist Fulani Herdsmen and Boko Haram, both backed by Nigerian Federal Government led by Muhammed Buhari.

The time has come for us to take bold steps towards freedom, self-preservation and nation building. Every background work we are doing now must be geared towards building a critical mass that will bring us to a decisive moment, our big and defining moment in time in our history.

Building or restoring a Nation or indeed creating a new Nation is a profound and divine task. The sacrifices that are made in the process will, most certainly, remain indelible in time.

I understand the dilemma those in diaspora inexplicably find themselves in, being in foreign lands; daily craving for the opportunity to return home to a peaceful, prosperous, safe and joyful Nation we can truly call our own. A home we can sing about, a home we can defend, a home we can fight and compete for with pride, in all human endeavour. A home we can pass on to generations to come, as we ride into the horizon with smile of mission accomplished.

Biafra Government in Exile (BGIE) is committed to this hope for All Biafrans, from Ijaw to Urobo, Igbo to Ikwere, Anioma to Idoma, Igala, Igbanke, Anang, Efik and many others, BGIE brings “hope that is no longer a passion for the possible, but a passion for the promise”. We must therefore cease the moment.

I believe that all the efforts we are making at various levels and in our various groups; making our voices heard, risking our lives agitating opening, sitting at home in protest, remembering those who paid the ultimate price, creating atmosphere for effective coalition, creating structures and institutions that will endure, reviving diplomatic friendships and above all, believing that “Freedom of choice is a universal  principle to which there should be no exception”.

I can see a clear path to freedom, but we must first forge a common front that will deliver effective impact and place the world on notice that the Republic of Biafra is being reborn and will be reborn come what may.

Let not your hearts be troubled, for the enemies we see today, we shall see them no more, only be united, courageous and have total faith in God and in our ability to succeed in whatever we put our joint efforts into; For “I have a dream that this Nation of Biafra will arise, and truly live according to it’s creed, that all are equal in their maker’s eyes, and none shall suffer through another’s greed”.

We have come to that point when we must, like Sir Winston Churchill, say, ‘We have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat’, and we must do so with great sense of unity, belief and purpose. Let the greater purpose always rise above individual purpose and let us put aside dividing walls and face the real enemy who is determined to annihilate us.

There are great nations in Biafra, who without any shadow of double, will flourish within a true federation as encapsulated in Biafra Charter, able to control their resources and free to keep their people safe and pursue true development and wellbeing of all.

We must, like our heroes past, fight together; Igbo, Ijaw, Efik, Ibibio, Anang, Igbanke, Urobo, Ogoja, Ikwere, Anang and others , to defeat the enemy and then build a truly free nation where all peoples are free to choose what they want to do and dream freely without fear. “We are the brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in Africa”, that city set on a hill which cannot be hidden. So let us rise and shine, it is about time.

God bless you all and may God bless the Republic of Biafra.

Going Home

By Super User 31 July, 2019

I am happy to write this first article on the PM’s corner of the BGIE website. I am very excited about the title ‘Going Home’.

The reason for this title is because of my unwavering belief in the restoration of the sovereign state of Biafra and my conviction that one day, not very long, our nation will once again be an independent, free and prosperous nation which majority, if not all of us have been yearning for.
