Fellow Biafrans and friends of Biafra, we have received the disturbing news of the abduction and incarceration of Nnamdi Okwu Kanu (Nnamdi Kanu) the leader of one of our Pro Biafra groups, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), and a son of Biafra, by the Nigeria state on Sunday 27th June 2021.
It has now been confirmed that Nnamdi Kanu is currently in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) to be held until the recommencement of his trial on the 26th of July 2021.
Biafra Government in Exile hereby condemn his abduction and detention and will hold the Nigerian government accountable for his safety and wellbeing whilst in their custody. We also expect, as do the international community, that he be treated with the utmost care, fairness, openness, and human dignity. We expect his trial will be fair, open, transparent, and not in secret.
Let us be clear, Nnamdi Kanu is now a POLITCAL PRISONER just like Nelson Mandela under apartheid South Africa. He has not committed any criminal offence that we are aware of, all he has done is to demand for self-determination for the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, which is an inalienable right under international conventions.
The demand for freedom and self-determination is not a demand for war or any form of violence. All Pro Biafra groups agitating for BiafraExit from Nigeria have done so in a peaceful fashion. We therefore urge the Nigerian government to please stop killing, intimidating, abducting, disappearing, and harassing peaceful Biafra agitators and protesters.
We want to make it abundantly clear that no amount of arrest, intimidation, high-handedness, extra-judicial killings, detention, and torture of Biafra agitators will stop the legitimate and peaceful agitation of BiafraExit from Nigeria. Biafra Government in Exile, in conjunction with all Pro Biafra groups will continue the agitation in a peaceful, diplomatic, and democratic manner until we achieve our noble aim of freedom and self-determination.
For the avoidance of doubt, we want to categorically state that we do not support violence in any way, shape or form, and no Pro Biafra Organisation, at home and in diaspora is involved in any form of criminal destruction of lives, private and public properties in any part of Nigeria. We hereby disassociate ourselves from such criminal activities.
We also want to observe and put on record that the Nigeria state seems to encourage and facilitate the heinous crimes committed by gun toting Fulani terrorist herdsmen who have flooded cities, towns, villages, and forests in Biafra and have been slaughtering men, women, and children, burning churches, destroying farms and sacking whole communities as Nigerian security agencies watch and do nothing.
We want to make it abundantly clear that a peaceful people facing attacks such as these have a right, in fact a duty, to defend themselves when the state demonstrates unwillingness to fulfill its primary responsibility of protecting the lives and properties of the people.
Nnamdi Kanu has this same right as any other person, thus he should not be treated like a criminal for exercising this right. The DSS should note that any advanced interrogation techniques that Nnamdi Kanu may be subjected to is an infringement of all his rights, any denial to counsel in preparation for his trial is an infringement of his rights, any denial of visitation from his family and friends is an infringement of his rights, any denial for him to speak freely as he choose is an infringement of rights, these rights remain inalienable and the waving of these rights cannot be construed upon him.
In seeking for freedom and self-determination, the Peoples and Nation of Biafra make neither war nor peace with the peoples or state of Nigeria, rather, we exercise a Natural right, a Popular right, a Political right, and a right supported by United Nations Organisation Charter and International Law – the right of Self-Determination.
To all Biafrans at home and in the diaspora, we implore you to go about your lawful business calmly, and not allow anyone to use this opportunity to either take advantage of you or use you to create chaos in your communities or the environs you reside in.
To all political, sociocultural, traditional, and spiritual leaders in Biafra land (Southeast and South South), we urge you to stand boldly for the truth, speak out against all forms of injustice, terrorism, subjugation, and stifling servitude.
Finally, we call for dialogue and constructive engagement with the Nigerian state, with the view to finding a Comprehensive Peaceful Agreement that will enable Biafra to Exit from Nigeria in a civilized, peaceful, and democratic fashion.
Thank you and God bless you all. Signed
Office of the Prime Minister Biafra Government in Exile (BGIE)
Fellow Biafrans;
We have watched in horror and disbelieve the chaotic, lopsided and corrupt approach of the Nigerian Government and its agencies towards COVID-19 response.
We have equally observed, with horror the abysmal actions, and inaction of State Governors in handling the outbreak of this coronavirus Pandemic. The lack of organisation, testing, scientific and public health guidance and the total disorder and lack of systemic approach to provision of relief packages aimed at easing the economic hardship on ordinary people as a result of the lockdown.
All the above vanishes into nothing when compared to the impending calamity that’s about to befall us with the massive migration of Fulani headsmen and Boko Haram fighters, disguised as almajiris into the South East, the heartland of Biafra.
Despite the imposed lockdown and total ban on interstate travels, the Islamic caliphate of the north, unrepentant in their quest to take over our land in a Fulanisation and Islamisation agenda, are sending down truck and trailer load of jihadists into the heartland of Biafra, to continue their interrupted march to the sea. Let no one be under any illusion, what is about to happen is a bold attempt to continue the Jihad started by Usman Dan Fodio in the 18th century.
These people will kill, slaughter, and maim us in order to force islam upon us. The party is over, it’s time for everyone to understand the times and be ready to push back the menace of extremism and Islamic fundamentalism in their determination
to annihilate us; from Nsukka to Agbo, Ogoja to Annang, Ijaw to Ishekiri, Oron to Umuahia, Okigwe to Enugu, Awka to Onitsha, Bende to Obigbo, Isoko to Igbanke, Urobo to Bonny, let every community rise up, unity, work together and prevent another pogrom, another Asaba massacre, another genocide against all our people.
We call on every community to organise and keep watch day and night. Raise alarm whenever and wherever you sense danger in our farms and bushes, roads and highways, do everything you can to help stop this threat.
But we must be clever, we must be smart in dealing with this monster because those who sent them have political and military power and will use it whenever we act in self-defence to protect ourselves and our land. Therefore, be smart and swift and do not fall into their trap.
The Northern controlled Government of Nigerian have one goal, and one goal only; to keep us in slavery, to keep us as 3rd class or even 4th class citizens in this contraption called Nigeria forever and to Islamise our regions and kingdoms.
We cannot let this happen; for the sake of our children and generations yet unborn, we must not let this happen. An independent state of Biafra will put this threat to a final stop and protect all our peoples and our land.
Biafra is our only hope of survival and our only hope to live freely in a genuinely great Nation, realising our potentials to the fullest. For far too long, a brilliant seed has been held down, covered under a concrete slab, continuously it struggles to bust forth, yet held down with more concrete slab. This seed can grow into a giant of a tree, then into a forest, sheltering all within it, yet it’s held down against her will, denied sunlight and rainwater. But rise she will, and she must.
For I am persuaded that neither life nor death, things present or past, neither principalities nor powers shall be able to hold us down; for the One who is with us is mighty and able to bring us to our expected destination. Jehovah, Chukwu Abiama is His name.
We say to our adversaries very loud and very clear; “there comes a time in the life of a people when there physical survival, dignity, fundamental human right, and indeed the very essence of their existence endowed upon them by their Creator, and guaranteed under international laws, supersede all temporary comfort, and demand unreserved and unmitigated action in defence of these God-given rights. For the peoples of Biafra, that time is now”.
This means that we must take our destiny in our own hands. We must wake up and open our eyes to the dangers we are facing together. The dangers from
The almajiris, killer herdsmen and boko haram in trailer loads from the North invading our land. We therefore urge all border towns to be alert, set up vigilante groups to monitor and stop these dangerous movements.
Terrorist Fulani Herdsmen with automatic weapons – farmers in all communities must remain vigilant and report all sightings of these deadly terrorists to local vigilante groups, community leaders and Town Union presidents.
Corrupt politicians–SouthEastGovernors,SenatorsandRepresentatives must be held fully accountable for diverting public funds to their private pockets instead of investing in high class hospitals, schools, factories and industries, roads, water, agriculture, research and production which will create jobs for young people and develop our region.
We want to take this opportunity to thank all Biafrans both at home and in diaspora who provided varying degrees of relief and support to the less privileged in our communities to cushion the economic effects brought about by coronavirus pandemic. You showed the spirit of Onye Aghala Nwanne Ya.
This same spirit of looking after each other was evident when millions of Biafran refugees returned from the North to the safety of their homeland, following the massacre in the North by Hausa Fulani Muslims in the worst Pogrom in living memory. In one day alone, over 30,000 of our people were slaughtered in Northern Nigeria. These killings of Biafrans have continued unabated.
Under the leadership of Col Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, the then Governor of the Eastern Region all the returnees were taking care of, families, towns and communities took in all the refugees in a spectacular show of Onye Aghala Nwanne Ya.
The fight for self-determination is a sacred fight for all Biafrans, from Ijaw kingdom to Efik nation, from Igbo nation to Urobo kingdom, Igbanke, Ogoja, Ahaba, Ikwere, Anang, Anioma, Abonima, Degema, Agbo, Igweocha
As our deputy leader Gen Philip Efiong stated, when they slaughtered officers from the old Eastern Region, no one was spared, Igbo, Ijaw, Efik, Anang, Ahaba, Igbanke (Igboakiri), Oron-Ibibio, Ogoja, Ishekiri. They killed us all then, and will do so again in the same manner, without differentiating between our tribes.
Our strategy for self-determination is anchored on the “Biafra Charter”, which can be found in our website www.bgie-gov.net. It is based on autonomy of all provinces/regions/kingdoms within Biafra, each province having full control of their resources and full control of their welfare, socio economic plan, policing, and development of all sectors of their economy.
There are great kingdoms within Biafra. We encourage all ethnic groups to now engage actively with each other to reach an agreement on the basis for existence as one Nation. The need for a solid foundation cannot be over emphasised.
The instruments that bind us must include the right of any constituent unit to a referendum, for their people to decide for themselves where and how they want to belong/associate politically; either as part of Biafra or as an independent state.
In the case of Nigeria, there was no agreement between the peoples, it was a forceful amalgamation in the interest of the colonial power, England. None of the Tribes was involved in the amalgamation process in 1914; that British contraption was built on sand, no foundation whatsoever, it’s fake and it has failed spectacularly.
There is therefore need for strong foundation, based on the choices the people make themselves, based on their shared values and beliefs.
We therefore want to state unequivocally, without fear of contradiction, that no ethnic nationality, within the old Eastern Region, which formed the first Republic of Biafra as declared on May 30, 1967 by our leaders Col Ojukwu and Col Efiong, as mandated by the Eastern Consultative Assembly, representing all of our peoples, has been or will be forcefully incorporated into the new Biafra we are fighting to restore.
We recommend and will champion discussions between all the ethnic nationalities within the area, in order to formulate lasting structural and institutional foundations, upon which the new Nation shall stand.
The unanimity of the Consultative Assembly was total in 1967, towards the defence and preservation our peoples from 1967 to 1970.
Biafra Government in Exile will continue to provide the overarching leadership and direction in bringing all Pro-Biafra groups together and initiate discussions within and between all Kingdoms within Biafra, in the spirit of equality, care, love, brotherhood and mutual respect.
The right of each Kingdom to determine for themselves where, how and who they want to associate with political is sacrosanct, and no one must be denied of that God-given right.
One thing is as clear as day light, we are safer and more prosperous together and outside Nigeria, and together we can build a new, great and modern Nation.
In Nigeria we will continue to face marginalisation, suppression, deprivation, annihilation, subjugation, and death. A secure state of Biafra is the final solution to the threat of Islamisation and Fulanisation. Together we shall put a final stop to the jihadist’s agenda.
The strategy of divide and rule may have worked in the past, to turn us against each other, but it will not work now. No longer shall brothers rise against brothers, cousin rise against cousin, sisters rise against sisters. With freedom comes security, development, and prosperity for all our peoples.
May God bless you all and may God bless the wonderful state of Biafra.
This is an important Public Service broadcast from Office of the Prime Minister of the Biafra Government in Exile (BGIE), regarding the ongoing COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic.
Fellow Countrymen and women, Biafrans at home and abroad in the diaspora, You must by now be aware of the havoc the COVID-19 Coronavirus is causing all over the world. As you seek to protect your lives and that of your loved ones, I suppose the key question on your mind is: “what are the facts and how can I protect myself, my family and my community from this disease?”
What is COVID-19?
The newly discovered COVID-19 Coronavirus causes an infectious disease which has killed tens of thousands of people and has caused illness to more than two million people all over the world. It has attacked and killed thousands of people all over Europe, the Americas, Asia, Africa, and Australia. It attacks and kills people of all races, creed, colour and gender, including Black people and peoples of African descent. It is especially deadly to the elderly and people with underlying health conditions like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease and cancer. It also attacks and kills young people and even children.
It is a fact that the COVID-19 virus is transmitted through contact with someone who is infected with this virus. You can catch it by touching something that a carrier has touched. It is also transmitted from droplets from the mouth or nose of an infected person who is talking whilst sitting or standing close to you.
At present, the common Symptoms of Coronavirus (COVID-19) disease confirmed by the World Health Organization include Fever, sore throat, persistent dry cough, tiredness, difficulty breathing, aches and pains that persist for several days. If you experience one or more of these symptoms, guidelines on what to do will follow shortly.
A person may be Asymptomatic and still pass on the virus to others, this is where a person shows no obvious physical symptoms of COVID-19 but is a carrier of the virus and can still infect others in close proximity or contact.
At the time of this broadcast, There is no confirmed or certified medical treatment for the COVID-19 Coronavirus disease, therefore any local healer, herbalist, “Dibia”, Faith Healer, evangelist, pastor, prophet, Bishop or priest who claims to cure the disease, especially for a fee, special offering or seed is a fraud. There is also no confirmed vaccine or cure developed to protect against the virus or stop the current rate at which it is spreading all over the world. Anyone presenting you with a so-called vaccine is also a fraud, please do not accept it; purchase it or allow it to be administered to you, members of your household, members of your family or members of community.
How will you protect yourself from being infected?
In order to protect yourselves, your families and your communities, we ask that:
1. You maintain Social Distancing by staying at least two meters from any person nearest to you when you go out.
2. You Cover your nose and mouth with a face mask when you are outside your home to protect yourself from droplets from other people. You can purchase masks from local retailers in the areas of Aba, Onitsha, Owerri, Umuahia, Port Harcourt, Enugu and other cities in Biafra land. Best if you can make them yourself in your home so you can have several pieces and change them from time to time as you wash the used one.
3. Practice good respiratory hygiene by covering your mouth when you sneeze or cough, do not talk, breath, sneeze or cough on other people’s faces or allow other people to do same to you.
4. If you experience the need to cough or sneeze in public or in your homes, please cover your mouth with a handkerchief or tissue which should be disposed immediately. Ensure that you wash your hands after coughing or sneezing.
5. You should refrain from social contact like shaking hands or hugging as a form of formal or informal greeting for now.
6. Whenever you come in contact with people or things whilst going about your business, try and avoid touching your face especially your eyes, nose and mouth, which are organs the virus can use as transport into body.
7. Endeavour to wash your hand with soap for at least 20 seconds when you come in contact with people and things outside your home and in public places. You can also use hand sanitizer if this is available to you.
What should you do if you experience symptoms of COVID-19?
1. If you are experiencing slight symptoms of COVID-19, please Isolate yourself by staying at home for a period of 14 days, while at home you can do a few things which may help, like consuming warm herbal beverages or boiling local herbs in a pot of hot water, sitting on a stool next to the pot covered by blanket and breathing the steam from herbs for about 10 minutes, this is what is often called ‘Ogwu Iba’. Please be aware that this is not a cure or medical advice, if you do this two or more times every day for about three days and your symptoms persist or gets worse, please go to your nearest hospital for testing and treatment. The test will show if you have been infected with the virus.
2. If your result is positive for COVID-19, don’t panic. Separate yourself from your family, and community, stay in isolation preferably in a hospital (quarantine) until you recover fully. This way you will not infect members of your family, your friends, relatives and community.
3. Please do not self-medicate by taking medicines that are not prescribed treatment for the Coronavirus disease with the hope of preventing the COVID-19 disease or stopping any of the symptoms you are experiencing.
4. Please do not panic and attack anyone diagnosed with COVID-19 Coronavirus. Most people diagnosed with this disease will recover after one to two weeks. However, observing these changes in our behavior will drastically reduce the chance of passing this disease from one person to another and spreading it in our communities.
Please endeavor to share this broadcast with members of your household, immediate family, your friends, neighbours and community at large, with your co-operation and everyone working together we are bound to succeed in the fight against this pandemic, please note that you will be updated as things develop regarding possible treatment and development of a Vaccine. All information can be found on the government website at www.bgie-gov.net/, may God be with all of you during this perilous times and bless the land and peoples of the Biafra.
The Biafra Government in Exile (BGIE) and the Biafra Shadow Government (BSG) have called on Biafrans to boycott the 2019 general elections even as they said the system is fashioned the be anti-Biafra.
REASON FOR ESTABLISHING RESEARCH AND PRODUCTION IN BIAFRA.
The Biafra – Nigeria war in 1967 – 1970, opened up already latent technological inventive and innovative capability and knowledge of the peoples of Biafra (former Eastern Region of Nigeria). With the declaration of Sovereign State of Republic of Biafra, the young Republic of Biafra was blockaded by

…As Tiv demand N100bn compensation Appalled by the scale of mass killings and destruction of property in Benue State by Fulani herdsmen, Governor Samuel Ortom, has accused the Fulanis of plotting to establish a caliphate in the state.
This is coming as Tivs have demanded a N100 billion compensation for the killing of 985 people and sacking of 15 local government areas by Fulani herdsmen.
Speaking at a at a public hearing of the House of Representatives Committee on Police Affairs, National Security, Intelligence and Public Safety and Defence, Governor Ortom said the attack on Agatu which led to the death of hundreds of innocent people was well planned and executed. He said government should rehabilitate and compensate Benue people, who have suffered incessant attacks by Fulani herdsmen.
“What happened in Agatu is better seen than imagined. We’re talking about a systemic takeover of a whole land of people. What happened in the North-East can’t be compared to what happened in Agatu. They made sure that they burnt down everywhere they go."
“Oweto, Ahila, etc., are completely wiped out. We believe that there’ll be a complete hunger next year. There appears to be a systemic movement of some people to Benue State to annihilate the people and establish some kind of kingdom.
“We’re all witnesses to what happened in Mali sometimes ago, where some people tried to establish a caliphate, and from what we heard, when the people there chased them, they moved to Nigeria. They entered Benue from Taraba. We think this information is authentic because if you look at what happened in Agatu, it was well calculated. We believe that what is happening in Benue State is not mere communal clashes; it’s more than that”, he said.
President General of the Tiv Socio-cultural organisation, Mdzough U Tiv (MUT), Engr. Edward Ujege, who presented the demand on behalf of the group, said that the attacks on Benue communities by herdsmen were deliberate and calculated.
“The herdsmen have ransacked whole communities in Benue and other parts of the country, plundered, killed and chased everyone out; and are now comfortably settled on these lands,” he said.

When Uthman Dan Fodio started Jihad (1804-1809) to conquer the Hausa States in Northern Nigeria and parts of Cameroon, his excuse was that he wanted to establish a pure form of Islam. That was a lie. He wanted to conquer the people, take over their land, and impose Fulani Emirs on them as their rulers.
